Information on the area

Moor Valley Park is a great base for sight-seeing in Yorkshire and The Dales. The vast majority of the major sights are within an hour by car and a large number, such as Bolton Abbey, Skipton, Harewood, Harrogate, Brontë Country and the heart of The National Park, are within about half-an-hour.

Ilkley is highly regarded for its stylish architecture and award winning flowerbeds. The tree lined shopping streets include award winning tea rooms, (including Betty’s an absolute must), a large number of excellent restaurants and quality shops. Leeds is the Capital of The North with 'Harvey Nick’s', its Mediterranean style cafés and waterfront areas. Bradford has The National Media Museum and the Alhambra Theatre.

A visit into the heart of The Yorkshire Dales National Park is essential. If you want to be eco-friendly, take the little Dales bus directly from Ilkley to Grassington or the train to Settle, famous for the Settle & Carlisle Railway. Malham Cove and Ingleton are both popular places.

Locally, for perhaps a half-day out, try Saltaire - a nominated world heritage site and 'model' village, Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs for a flat walk, Golden Acre Park or Esholt (the village made famous as the film location for 'Emmerdale', or Harewood House.
